It seems a lifetime ago I left Hawai’i as a child to follow, first my parents, then my husband, across the U.S., Europe, and the Orient, compliments of the U.S. Government. It was a grand experience for a youngster from Hawai’i, whose front yard was acres of sand, to discover that the white stuff on the mountains we were flying over enroute to Alaska, was not sand, but SNOW!

Life has been a learning experience ever since, thank goodness, especially about our islands that we have been rediscovering since returning in 1979. Each is unique, but we chose Hawai’i Island because it is so diverse, has much to explore, is affordable and is quite beautiful…..from its rugged fields of lava, its windswept hills of Kohala, tranquil oceanfront villages of west Hawai’i, panoramic Hamakua, majestic snowcapped mountains, lush friendly Hilo and emerging Puna, growing in size, population and economy.
