Aloha

Aloha and welcome to our site. As most Real Estate Investors would like to know about the person(s) that they choose to have represent them I present this short personal/professional Bio of myself.

Born, raised and educated in the Boston area of the U.S. I have a BA and MEd from Boston State College and spent 10 years teaching in the public schools before relocating to Hawaii in 1976. My first two years in Hawaii were spent sailing the Islands and getting to know the people and places that make Hawaii the Paradise that it is. Moving to Puna in 1978 with my wife, we built our first home in lower Puna and started our family in this rural location living off the grid for over 10 years. On our 7 acre property we developed, from our Orchid raising hobby, a Dendrobium Orchid nursery and flower shipping business and a valuable understanding of “Aloha Aina” (love for the land).

I became familiar with the local community back in the late 70’s while teaching Health and Science at Waiakea Intermediate and knew that the Hilo area was a wonderful place to raise our family.

I became interested in Real Estate here in Hawaii while searching for our first property and have since been investing and have built over 10 homes and purchased many properties. After almost 10 years of Real Estate investing I decided to get my real estate license in 1986 so that I could be on top of the market. Little did I know that it was not a part time job and found myself in a new career that was almost a 24/7 life style. My oldest daughter “Nani” was raised in this real estate environment and now we are working together as a “dynamic duo”. Nani was born and raised on the Big Island, graduated from Hilo High and the University of Hawaii Hilo this spring.

The process of purchasing property on the Big Island requires careful due diligence and one should not expect it to be the same as purchasing property on the Mainland or anywhere else for that matter. I offer my clients the experience and personal commitment that will help them avoid many of the pitfalls of purchasing property on this Island. I have watched the market raise and fall over the past 30 years as well as the population more than double on the Island. With this knowledge and understanding I offer you my services with Aloha!
