I arrived on the Big Island in the beginning of 1985 and was amazed at the diversity here. Having the ocean nearby and lots of tropical fruit and fresh vegetables available made life very enjoyable. Working as a carpenter earned me a fairly good income. In 1992 I had a job related accident that ultimately caused me to have to change careers and move back to California. I was not happy about the move but made the best of things.
Selling Real Estate became my new career and I found it enjoyable. However, I still missed Hawaii. So, in 2006, I sold my home in Northern California and moved back to Hawaii. I built a nice little home near Naalehu in the Waiohinu area. I am happy to say that, at times, I have way too many papayas and bananas. I plant green beans in January or February or any month that suits me and I have to mow my cherry tomatoes when they start to take over the yard.
